x+ 1/x= 5
⇒ (x+ 1/x)^2= 5^2
⇒ (x+ 1/x)^2= 25
⇒ x^2+ 2(x)(1/x)+ 1/x^2= 25
⇒ (x^2+ 1/x^2)+ 2*1= 25
⇒ x^2+ 1/x^2= 25 -2
⇒ x^2+ 1/x^2= 23
