The Military installation that was attacked and started the Civil War was Fort Sumter when it was attacked on Friday, April 12, 1861, at 4:30 a.m.

The Bombardment lasted for 34 straight hours without break. On Saturday, April 13, the fort was surrendered and evacuated.
