as this is an isosceles triangle with sides VW and VU equal then the base angles are equal
so
8x - 1 = 5x + 23
3x = 24
x = 8
so the base angles are both = to 63 degrees
so m< W = 180 - 2(63) = 180 - 126 = 54 degrees
