Explain how the phrase “knowledge is power” applies to civics.

Well you should know the laws of the country you're in. Let's say you get into some trouble and get arrested, you have to know your rights because sometimes people will violate them and you have to know how they did. Did you know a police officer can't legally come into your house to search unless they have a patient to? If you didn't know your rights you wouldn't of known they have been violated.
