Plants must have nitrates to help them grow. what must happen to nitrogen for it to be usable by plants?

For nitrogen to be used by plants. The nitrogen must be transformed through nitrogen fixation. Fixation converts nitrogen in the atmosphere into forms that plants can absorb through their roots systems.
