Ann's and Maria's estimations of 10 feet and 15 feet are much wider and there would be no door with these widths.

Ted's estimation of 1 foot is also not possible as some stout students can't enter into the class.  :D

Hence, Hank's estimation of 3 feet is the best estimate.
